BMA Educational Program Intern//Mentorship Summer 2010

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Business Marketing Association Chicago is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting student intern who is passionate about marketing/communications and database management. Intern will provide support to BMA staff and gain valuable skills and insights while assisting with database management and customer contact management initiatives.  The internship will also include a mentorship program. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Update, manage and enhance the BMA member and prospect databases using multiple software programs.
• Contact potential member organizations to secure meetings with senior level marketing decision makers, sponsors and advertisers
• Assist with special projects supporting Executive Director, Board of Directors and committees

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Working knowledge of contact management system packages
• Ability to learn new software programs quickly
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, internet and social media sites especially LinkedIn and Twitter. 
• Effective project management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Outgoing, initiative, drive, common sense, creative flair and flexibility 
• Must be a responsible Senior undergraduate or in a graduate program in marketing, communications or database management.

MENTORSHIP:
Along with learning the ins and outs of a marketing organization, the selected intern will also spend time with top B2B executives and agencies at their company for a breakfast or lunch to learn about the company, the marketing structure, marketing channel mix, etc. which will provide the intern with a keener sense of B2B marketing elements compared to B2C.

SUPERVISION:
Reports directly to Executive Director

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily work in top B2B office located in Chicago on Michigan Avenue and outside of the office via meetings in Chicago.  Some evening work may be required.

HOURS/RATE:
30 hours per week starting as early as May 15 – September 30 or as school schedule permits
$12.50 per hour

College credit may be available depending on the requirements of your college or university.
